09.08.2024Don’t pay for parking on Tulum’s protected beach
You don’t have to pay for parking, although they all charge a fee. To do this on the beach of the reserve, there are 2 options:
- Buy a boat ride for yourself and your companions, usually sold immediately by the parking attendant
- Eat at a restaurant, if there is one on the beach where the parking lot is located.
My first experience was more expensive. I arrived at the parking lot of the beach, it is located a little farther from Maya Beach and paid 300 pesos (18 USD) for parking. They only take money in cash. Naturally I didn’t know where to park or how.
Right in the parking lot, the valet immediately offered me a boat ride with snorkeling and a visit to the archaeological beach. For my entire family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) he offered to pay $110 USD and then parking is free. The cost of snorkeling and boat ride, I described in a separate post.
The beach was great, but there were no sunbeds, so in search of sunbeds we traveled several hundred meters along the shoreline and chose a completely different beach, where we chose an umbrella and sunbeds, and later had lunch. When we paid for lunch, the waiter said he would give us a check for free parking because we were guests of the restaurant. The problem was that I didn’t leave my car in their parking lot. The next time I left my car at their parking lot, read about it here, Paraiso Beach in Tulum.
There is no third option to not pay for parking(((
