Car rental in Mexico, part 2: my experience

29.08.2024Paying for parking, Playa Del Carmen
I encountered paid parking in Playa del Carmen, when you park your car, there is not a single street where there is no charge. The cost is a reasonable 120 pesos per hour, payable instantly or through an app.
Paying for parking with coins
- Park your car according to the markings.
- Enter your license plate number in the parking machine.
- Drop the required number of coins, the monitor will indicate the time limit until which the parking will be paid for.
- Print out the receipt and put it under the glass inside the car.
Pay for parking through the app
Unfortunately I was not able to do this as the app is only available in the AppStore for a specific region, not sure why.))
If you are staying in a hotel or apartment, ask about the availability of parking in your building, you can often get it for free.
Parking lots in Playa del Carmen are paid, free in Tulum, but you will pay for parking on the beach, but near the apartments you will always have a free parking space.
Failure to pay for parking
If you don’t pay for parking, you can get a wheel lock. Unlocking it will cost $150 USD. Walking around the city I saw many cars that were blocked. Pay for parking, it will definitely be cheaper that way.
