22.08.2024Playa del Carmen – Yucatan resort
25.08.2024The ruins of the Mayan pyramid in Kobe
This is a great place to visit if you are vacationing in Tulum, then you can choose one of the days and go early, and on the way back combine this trip with a visit to the cenote.
Coba is an ancient Mayan city, during the heyday of civilization was considered one of the largest.
Distance from Tulum – up to 100 km, by car about 1 hour on the highway.
Cost
Entrance to the territory (parking lot) by car – 90 pesos per car
Entrance to the territory – pesos per person
We took a tour guide, the cost depends on the language, they can do in Spanish, English, German, French. English to us came out 100 US dollars, payment is possible by card. Tour guide can be and cheaper, if you take not all the sights to see.
The territory is quite large, although less than in Chechenitsa, nevertheless, if you do not want to move on foot, which is several kilometers, there are bicycles for rent for 60 pesos (4 dollars) or cycle rickshaws for 150 pesos (10 dollars).
We didn’t regret that we took a rickshaw, because although the road goes through the forest and it was cloudy, due to the high humidity the heat is quite strong.
What to see
Old stones with inscriptions and drawings, a pyramid for sacrifices, a purgatory, the first competition stadium and a training stadium, as well as a large Mayan pyramid and an ancient observatory. The pyramid in Coba is the largest, bigger than the one in Chechenica.
